Warden Garess,
I never thought I’d put pen to paper again after what we saw in the valley — after what he did to Varnhold. But I suppose you should know this:
Vordakai was not as dead as we’d hoped. Or rather, his body was gone, but his mark wasn’t. The old tomb was quiet for years, until last winter when shepherds reported black water rising from the river caves.
A company of soldiers went to cleanse the place — only half returned. They say the undead they fought wore the same ceremonial masks as before, but none bore the lich’s eye. Something’s stirring down there — not Vordakai himself, maybe, but a piece of him.
The priests of Pharasma think the soul jar you shattered released more than one spirit. I think whatever was left of him is rebuilding… patient as stone. If your travels ever bring you back, bring fire. A lot of it.
